Making Career Goals Real: How Keri Supports ORDCA Students

Meet Keri Green, a passionate and dynamic educator making waves at Destinations Career Academy of Oregon. Originally from Twin Falls, Idaho, Keri’s journey is rooted in both academic excellence and athletic achievement. She attended Canyon Ridge High School before pursuing collegiate athletics, first at Blue Mountain Community College for volleyball, and later at Bushnell University, where she played both volleyball and golf. Her love for learning didn’t stop there. Keri earned her master’s in business administration from Bushnell University and went on to complete a master’s in education from Southern New Hampshire University.
Now in her fourth year with Destinations Career Academy of Oregon, Keri’s path within the school has been nothing short of inspiring. She began her journey as an academic advisor, quickly stepping into the role of CTE Business Teacher and today serves as the CTE Coordinator. Her drive to empower students through hands-on, real-world learning is evident in every program she helps lead.
Keri’s passion for Career and Technical Education (CTE) stems from her business background and her deep belief in preparing students for success beyond high school. Under her leadership, Destinations Career Academy of Oregon has seen the development and growth of three full-stage CTE programs, each designed to offer meaningful pathways in Business, Health Sciences, and Construction.
These programs have matured significantly over the past three years, becoming well-established opportunities for students to gain industry-relevant skills. Thanks to Keri’s vision and collaborative work with community partners, students can now earn dual credit through Central Oregon Community College, a major win for those seeking both high school and college credit concurrently.
Currently, 21 students are exploring careers in Health Sciences, 43 are diving into Arts, AV Technology, and Communication, and 25 are gaining valuable skills in Construction. Additionally, 2 students are still exploring their options, reflecting the flexibility and personalization of the programs.
In addition to her leadership at Destinations Career Academy of Oregon, Keri also brings her experience as a Community College Volleyball Coach at Lane in Eugene. She is the creative force behind monthly newsletters that keep students, parents, and faculty informed and inspired. With the help of Nate Quinn, CTE Digital Arts and weekly videos that spotlight various CTE pathways, student stories, and program updates, making CTE more accessible and engaging for the entire school community.
Under Keri’s direction, the Health Sciences program offers students the chance to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistants, including certifications in Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association, a first-time opportunity that prepares students for careers in healthcare right out of high school.
In Construction, students benefit from the expertise of instructors like Bob Tatum, learning skills that will serve them in trades and technical careers. In Business and IT, Keri supports students in developing entrepreneurial skills and digital literacy, essentials for today’s modern workplace.
Keri advocates for Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO), including SkillsUSA, helping students build leadership and teamwork skills through real-world competitions and events.
As Destinations Career Academy of Oregon CTE Coordinator, Keri continues to build strong industry and community partnerships, expand student opportunities, and foster a culture of career readiness. Her journey from student-athlete to educational leader reflects her commitment to lifelong learning and helping students discover their own paths to success.
